No matter what your political views or your views on our involvement in other places...it CAN NOT change the fact that these men, women and their families sacrifice a great deal everyday for this country, all of us and our families!
Today, along with my SIL Sue, my NIL Jeanna, great niece Cam and Jeanna's dad Don I had the priviledge of watching many of those men and women returned from a 8 month tour on the USS Enterprise. Among them was my nephew Matt. He sacrificed much to do his job. Not only was he away from his family he also missed the birth of his baby on his first tour and then missed her first birthday on this one! Sacrifces are many in the military.
I remember it well from an other situation. In February of 1999 I gave birth to my last child and in October my second son came home and told us he joined the Marine Corp. He stayed to see his brother's first Christmas and then left for boot camp. He spent a good deal of the next 5 years overseas...in many countries...including being deployed when the war in Iraq began! Sacrifice...he made many. Our family did with out our son for quite a while and it was years before my baby really had an opportunity to know who his brother was!
So, YES regardless of your views....or mine...I am thankful and proud of these men and women and the sacrifices they make!
It is what a soldier or Marine does for us...for people.
We all have to give back...in some way or another...
We can all find a way to "pay it forward"!
Maybe your way is to help the homeless, feed the hungry...there are many ways...maybe your way can be to help families battling this very unfair disease...Maybe you can help us help others...day by day!
Thank you Joe, Thank you Matt...thank you to all of the people who give of themselves to help protect our families!
