Cheryl Confalone - the woman behind the foundation
My mission, since being diagnosed with cancer in 2010, is to bring relief to a family when it is most needed. As a mother, it is devastating to be unable to care for your family. I watched as my husband and adult daughter tried to take care of me and continue to care for my 12 yr old son, keep our family business running, and maintain some semblance of normalcy in our home. This is a very difficult task. Then add the devastation of income loss, medication, doctor bills and dealing with insurance companies! All while you feel like you can barely lift your head off the pillow!! So, this is the mission of this organization...to provide help when it is MOST needed...day to day...with daily needs...food, housework, medication info and dealing with the legal/insurance issues that will almost always arise.

Oh yes, that is me!! When you have a mother with cancer and you think you may be even a little under the weather, this is what you get to wear to avoid spreading your germs and sending her to the hospital!!
As an adult child of a mother struggling with cancer the hardest thing is completely understanding what she is going through and yet still knowing there is nothing you can do to fix it. What was even more frustrating was watching my mother and father struggle to make things run as smoothly as possible for my little brother and their business. Cancer medications, surgeries, doctors, radiology studies, etc. are all very expensive and you would think the insurance that you pay hundreds for a month would cover the costs, but of course they don't. I remember looking for websites to help families like us to make it through this battle and there was nothing! Most sites out there offer help to children, and while I find those admirable and very necessary, there were no groups focusing their fundraising to help your average adult with a family to support. There are TONS of sites raising money for a cure, and hopefully one day there will be a cure, but in the meantime there are hundreds and millions of families that could use that money to help get them through the day, week, month, or even year! That is our goal... to lessen the burden that cancer has put on a family and give them hope... day by day.
